Wines
Wines chosen with passion. This is our slogan and we mean it. We work hard to provide Rhode Island with one of the best selections of fine wine in the state.
If you're looking for French wine, we carry wines from Kermit Lynch, Neal Rosenthal, Louis/Dressner and a variety of other small artisan importers. From Italy we carry a wide range of wines from Vias and Winebow, as well as the wines of other small, family run importers. We are big fans of the wines brought into the country from Terry Theisse and usually have a nice selection of German and Austrian wines from his portfolio. Thinking organic? We have the area's largest selection of wines made from organically grown grapes, made in a natural, non-interventionist style. California your thing? We carry an extensive selection of Californian wines, be it high-end Cabernet or a hard to find Chardonnay, chances or we have it or can get it. Looking for a special gift? We also stock an array of older wines in our temperature controlled wine cellar.
Can't find what your after? We gladly do special orders. (no quantity limit, one bottle is fine) If it's available in the state we can get it.

Wine Picks for Winter 2008
Bernard Baudry Chinon Les Granges 2005
This wine is a perrenial staff favorite. Produced from 100% Cabernet Franc, this is an elegant red wine that speaks of clean, precise red berry fruit flavors and hints of cedar and tobacco notes. Finely grained in texture, it is a joy to drink. Serve on its own or with cheeses and simple bistro fare.
Pascal et Annick Quenard Chignin 2006
Chignin is the most famous cru in the little know Savoie region of eastern France. This is made from an equally obscure grape named Jaquerre.
Quenard's Jaquerre vines are over 100 years old. Rich and complex with hints of sea and minerals, it is reminiscent of some of the richer styles of Muscadet we favor. It is purely flavored and pretty, really gorgeous stuff.
De Forville Dolcetto d'Alba 2006
Dolcetto ripens well in the cooler vineyards around Alba and it is here that it is at its most expressive. This is fresh and lively with hints of black fruits, notes of anise and crisp, cleansing acidity. This is the perfect wine to complement all sorts of foods, from carne cruda all'albese, the chopped raw beef that's Piemonte's answer to steak tartare, to pasta with the drippings of a roast or a red sauce (or even agnolotti, the classic Piemontese stuffed pasta with a meat filling) through simple grilled meats or light stews.
